Religion

More than 97% of registered in Ukraine today religious communities are the Christian ones. Almost half of them are orthodox. Others are equally spread catholic and protestant. According to the official terminology, there are several “traditional Churches”: three subjects of orthodox jurisdiction and Greco-Catholic Church.

In the XXI there are Muslims, Jews and followers of the other religions living in Ukraine.

There are three main subjects of orthodox in Ukraine:   Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Moscow Patriarchy (UOC-MP) - counts 9049 parishes, majority of them functioning in the central and south eastern regions of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kiev Patriarchy (UOC-KP) - counts 2781 parishes, 30 % of them function in the central and about 10% of them in the south-eastern regions of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Autocephaly Orthodox Church- counts 1015 parishes, 80% of them are situated in the western regions of Ukraine.    
 

Today there are two catholic churches in Ukraine:

 Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church (UGCC) - counts 3328 parishes, majority of them function on the west of the Ukraine.

Roman Catholic Church (RCC) – counts 807 parishes, majority of them are in the central part of the Ukraine.

Also in Ukraine operates Armenian Apostolic Church.

There are lots of different protestant churches and modern religious communities, their numbers increase fast.
