Engelbert Humperdinck
When he just began his stage career in the 1960s, American singer Engelbert Humperdinck was often compared to Frank Sinatra and Tom Jones, but he managed to create his own unique image and capture millions of mostly female hearts with his songs. Humperdinck was a classical entertainer – casually elegant, good-looking and easy going, and performed his famous love ballads such as “There Goes My Everything,” “Spanish Eyes” and “The Last Waltz” in a powerful yet velvety voice. Unlike his once counterpart Tom Jones, Humperdinck didn’t try to adopt his music to modern pop tastes, and kept his original style along with his numerous ageing female fans.
