Ukraine`s parliament on Wednesday rejected a request from President Viktor Yushchenko to release funds to pay for an early parliamentary election. The draft law was prepared by OU-PSD faction member Ksenia Lyapina.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, the draft legislation was supported by only 222 lawmakersm out of them 170 members of the Party of Regions faction, 35 - OU-PSD, and 17 - of the Lytvyn`s Bloc. It needed 226 votes to pass.

The factions of BYuT and CPU did not support the draft law.

The draft legislation stipulated to make available $76 million for the election.
